Pune-based Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) and the Data Security Council of India (DSCI) have signed a partnership agreement to strengthen cybersecurity across India’s automotive industry, announced in April 2026.
The collaboration will bring together car manufacturers, suppliers, and policymakers to collectively address cyber risks facing the sector. A key driver behind the agreement is the need to prepare the industry for new data protection regulations expected to affect automotive operations.
The partnership is also designed to promote knowledge sharing and foster development of secure connected vehicles and manufacturing processes.
As vehicles become increasingly connected, the automotive sector faces growing exposure to cybersecurity threats. This agreement may help establish a more coordinated response across the industry’s supply chain — from component suppliers to finished vehicle producers — by aligning stakeholders under a shared framework for tackling those risks.
