AI startup Anthropic has committed to spending $200 billion with Google Cloud over the next five years, according to a report published in May 2026. The deal is expected to significantly boost Google’s revenue backlog.
The agreement deepens an existing partnership between Google and Anthropic, with Google having made substantial investments in the AI company. Beyond Google Cloud, Anthropic has also secured computing capacity from chipmaker Broadcom and from Amazon, suggesting the startup is building out infrastructure across multiple providers to support its AI operations.
The scale of the commitment reflects a broader trend among major cloud providers, which are seeing substantial backlogs build up as AI companies lock in long-term computing contracts. For Google, the deal represents a significant commercial win as competition in cloud services and AI infrastructure intensifies.
