Uber Partners With Adani Group to Build Its First Data Centre in India

Uber is establishing its first data centre in India through a partnership with Adani Group, the company announced in May 2026. The facility is intended to help Uber “test and deploy” technology at scale from India for its global operations.

Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi revealed the plans after meeting Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani in Ahmedabad. Khosrowshahi shared the announcement on X, stating that “India is fast emerging as a leading innovation hub for Uber.”

The announcement came during a five-day India visit by Khosrowshahi, in which he also met Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to discuss Uber’s investment roadmap for the country, and held talks with former NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant.

The data centre will be built in partnership with AdaniConneX, Adani Group’s data centre and digital infrastructure arm, which has been expanding across multiple Indian cities, including a large campus in Visakhapatnam.

Uber’s move into local data infrastructure aligns with a broader trend of global technology firms increasing investment in India’s cloud and AI ecosystem. The push is driven in part by rising demand for localised data infrastructure and the Indian government’s emphasis on digital sovereignty.

For Adani Group, the deal extends AdaniConneX’s growing footprint in India’s digital infrastructure sector. For Uber, it signals a deepening commitment to India as a key growth market and a base for developing technology deployed worldwide.
