Google has expanded Quick Share compatibility with Apple’s AirDrop to a wider range of Android devices, including phones from OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo, Samsung, Xiaomi, and Honor. The announcement was made ahead of Google I/O 2026 during the Android Show event in May 2026.
The feature, which previously launched exclusively for Pixel 10 users, now supports the following devices: Samsung Galaxy S26 series, Google Pixel 10 series, Google Pixel 9 series, Google Pixel 8a, Oppo Find X9 series, Oppo Find N6, and Vivo X300 Ultra.
Google also confirmed that additional devices are expected to gain support soon, including the Samsung Galaxy S25 and S24 series, Galaxy Z Flip 7, Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 6, Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z TriFold, Oppo Find X8 series, OnePlus 15, Honor Magic V6, and Honor Magic8 Pro. Notably, Google’s own Pixel 9a and Pixel 8 lineup were not included in either list.
For devices that do not yet support direct AirDrop integration, Google is introducing a QR code-based workaround. Android users can generate a QR code through Quick Share, which iPhone or Mac users can scan to download files via their browser. Google states that these transfers are end-to-end encrypted and files remain available for download for up to 24 hours.
The cross-device sharing feature works through a hybrid peer-to-peer local wireless architecture, allowing Android phones to share files directly with iPhones, iPads, and macOS devices without routing content through external servers. To receive files from an Android device, iPhone or Mac users need to set AirDrop to “Everyone for 10 minutes.”
Google also confirmed plans to integrate Quick Share directly into third-party apps in the future, including WhatsApp. The expansion may give hundreds of millions of Android users a more seamless path to sharing files with Apple device owners without relying on third-party tools.
